Cookies
Sikohome handles personal data in Kenya. These pages set out how we collect, use, store and share it, and the rights you have under Kenyan law.
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Sikohome uses them only as needed to run a signed-in session, remember a display currency, complete a booking, and reduce abuse. That is consistent with purpose limitation and data minimisation under the Data Protection Act, 2019.
What we set
- Session and login — so you stay signed in as a traveller, host or operator, and so forms can be checked against forgery (CSRF).
- Preferences — for example which currency to show prices in.
- Booking aids — a short-lived referral or share cookie when you open a host’s listing from a shared link.
- Security — rate-limit and device hints so two people on one office network are not treated as one attacker, and so repeat abuse can be stopped.
What we do not do
We do not use advertising cookies from third-party networks to follow you around the web. We do not sell cookie data. Analytics that we run ourselves (search and page events used to improve the product) are kept only as long as they are useful and are pruned on a schedule.
Your choices
You can block cookies in your browser. If you block session cookies you will not be able to sign in or complete a booking. Strictly necessary cookies do not require extra consent; anything optional will be described at the point we add it.
How we handle the personal data behind a cookie is in the Privacy & data protection notice (Data Protection Act, 2019). Site rules are in the Terms of use.
This notice is written in plain language so you can use it. It is not a substitute for legal advice. If Kenyan law changes, we will update this page.
