Terms of use
Sikohome handles personal data in Kenya. These pages set out how we collect, use, store and share it, and the rights you have under Kenyan law.
These terms govern use of Sikohome by travellers, hosts, property managers and owners. By creating an account, listing a property, or placing a booking, you agree to them and to the Privacy & data protection notice.
1. The service
Sikohome is a Kenya short-stay platform. Travellers find and book stays. Hosts and managers run listings, calendars, housekeeping and payouts. Owners can follow statements in the owner portal. We are not a party to the stay contract between guest and host, except where we process a payment or hold funds as described at checkout.
2. Accounts
- You must give accurate details and keep them current.
- You are responsible for devices signed in to your account. Tell us if you think someone else is using it.
- Hosts must only list property they are allowed to let for short stays under Kenyan law and any estate or county rules that apply.
3. Bookings and payments
- A submitted booking form places a short hold. The stay is confirmed when payment succeeds through the connected M-Pesa, PayHero or card checkout, unless the listing says otherwise.
- Prices, VAT on stays, and host payouts follow the listing and the privacy notice on tax identifiers.
- Cancellation and check-in rules are those shown on the listing or host site. Platform fees and plan charges for hosts are those shown at signup and on the plan page.
4. Identity and safety
Hosts may require a government ID at check-in. Identity numbers and KRA PINs are stored encrypted and shown as recognition marks on receipts and public pages. Do not use the platform to collect identity data for any purpose other than a genuine stay, payroll or a legal duty. See the Privacy & data protection page (Data Protection Act, 2019).
5. Acceptable use
You must not: interfere with other people’s bookings; scrape or attack the service; post listings that are not real; harass guests or hosts; or use personal data obtained here for marketing or fraud. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or Kenyan law.
6. Content and listings
Hosts own their listing copy and photos. You grant Sikohome a licence to display them so travellers can find the stay. Do not upload photos you do not have the right to use.
7. Liability
Stays happen at the property. The host is responsible for the unit, access, cleanliness and local compliance. We are responsible for running the platform with reasonable care. We are not liable for losses we could not reasonably foresee, or for a host’s or guest’s failure to honour the stay. Nothing in these terms limits liability that Kenyan law does not allow us to limit (including fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence).
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Kenyan courts have jurisdiction. Consumer rights under Article 46 of the Constitution and applicable statutes still apply.
